The 25th Biskupin International Martial Arts Summer Sports Camp marked a special milestone in the history of our community — an unforgettable week that blended training, culture, and friendship in the heart of Poland. Far more than a series of lessons, the event celebrated the spirit of martial arts through shared learning, respect, and camaraderie among participants from many countries and disciplines.

Training with Excellence

Throughout the week, attendees took part in an intensive and diverse program featuring karate, kenjutsu, kickboxing, ju-jitsu, and self-defense, with sessions designed for practitioners of all ages and experience levels.

An outstanding lineup of instructors led the way, including European Champions David Buckley (Ireland), Petra Gudde, Mikel Brunn, Peter Kluss (Germany), and Angelika German (Ukraine). They were joined by a team of accomplished Polish masters — Piotr Witkowski, Krzysztof Mróz, Maciej Maciejewski, Robert Antosiak, Tomasz Misiak, Jacek Pieczonka, and Marian Waszak — whose dedication and expertise brought every session to life.

Together, this team created a dynamic environment that encouraged technical excellence, personal growth, and a deep appreciation for the traditions of martial arts.

Exploration Beyond the Tatami

The camp experience extended well beyond physical training. Participants had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the rich history and natural beauty of Biskupin and its surroundings. Excursions included visits to the Biskupin Archaeological Museum, Fisheries Museum, and the Wenecja Railway Museum, along with a memorable ride on the area’s narrow-gauge railway and a walk through the storied Devil’s Castle ruins.

Between sessions, attendees enjoyed archery, swimming, and friendly games at the Zajazd Biskupin pool, creating a balanced blend of learning, leisure, and lasting friendship.

Progress, Recognition, and Achievement

A highlight of the camp was the opportunity for students to demonstrate their development through Kyu and Dan examinations, where dedication and perseverance were rightfully rewarded.

Among the many achievements:

  • Aleksandra Rochmińska earned her 1st Dan in Shotokan Karate.
  • In Kenjutsu, Mirosław Wiśniewski (3rd Dan) and Eugeniusz Rzymyszkiewicz (2nd Dan) achieved new ranks.

Additionally, the IMAFE/IMAFPL organization recognized achievements across other disciplines:

  • Mirosław Wiśniewski – 8th Dan Ju-Jitsu
  • Marcin Zawada – 4th Dan Karate
  • Janusz Malczewski – 3rd Dan Ju-Jitsu
  • Krzysztof Nowak – 1st Dan Ju-Jitsu
  • Marcin Karmelita – 1st Dan Ju-Jitsu

A special moment of pride came with Shihan Krzysztof Mróz of the Tempo Paniówki Club receiving his Kenjutsu Instructor Certificate — a well-deserved acknowledgment of skill and commitment.

The Closing Tournament

To conclude the week, participants took part in a Sports Kenjutsu and Karate Kata Tournament, where both youth and experienced practitioners displayed remarkable precision, discipline, and composure. Applause filled the hall as medals and certificates were awarded, celebrating not just technical success but also the spirit of unity and mutual respect that defines true martial arts practice.

A Meaningful Conclusion

As the event came to an end, each participant received a commemorative certificate honoring their progress and participation. Instructors were presented with handcrafted paintings by Shihan Zdzisław Mikoda, a heartfelt gesture of thanks for their exceptional contribution.

Set against Biskupin’s scenic and historic backdrop, this 25th anniversary edition combined rigorous training, cultural discovery, and lifelong friendship. It stood as a testament to the values we uphold — discipline, respect, and shared growth — and to the enduring power of martial arts to bring people together.

We look forward to continuing this proud tradition, ensuring the Biskupin Summer Camp remains a source of inspiration for martial artists across generations.
